 Maria McCormick
Actress and
philanthropist, Maria McCormick has contributed her work and her support to the promotion of mental and social
health. She sponsored the Peter and Maria McCormick Center for Clinical Philosophy at
Rush Presbyterian-St.Luke’s Medical Center, and also the Society for the Advancement of Clinical Philosophy.
She
played Maria of Nazareth in a psychoeducational play presenting the Latin American view of religion as inseparable
from efforts to promote social liberation and mental health. Maria McCormick was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina,
a member of a class that understood authentically that noblesse oblige.
